Exhibition: Art Show Exhibition August 14-26, 2017-11:00 am to 3:00pm and Saturday August 26, 2017 during the City of Tacoma's Hilltop Street Festival. Public viewing of Film Show entries will be 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturday August 26, 2017 at Centro Latino, 1208 S 10th St, Tacoma, WA 98405

 

The Centro Latino 2017 Latin Arts Festival Juried Art Show and Video Exhibition is the only juried Latin and Latino art exhibitions in the Pacific Northwest. The theme of the 2017 Latin Arts Festival Exhibitions is: "Unity through Diversity". Student and full-time professional artists and film makers are encouraged to submit their images depicting historic to present day stories of multi-cultural traditions and experiences interacting with humans and nature in the Americas. The 2017 Latin Arts festival juried art exhibit will attract an audience in excess of 5,000 festival goers attending the City of Tacoma's Hilltop Street Fair, Saturday August 26, 2017 from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Fees

 

Full Time Artists
Application Fee - $25 (non-refundable, due upon submission of application)
Booth Fee (10x10) - $50 (due August 5, 2016) for Hilltop Street Fair Saturday August 27, 2016.
Booth Registration form can be downloading in the Vendor's section.
Reserving a Vendor booth is optional for Artists who wish to sell their art during the day (August 27, 2016) of the Hilltop Street Fair.


Student Artists
Application Fee - $15 (non-refundable, due upon submission of application)
Booth Fee (10x10) - $50 (due August 5, 2016) for Hilltop Street Fair Saturday August 27, 2016.
Booth Registration form can be downloading in the Vendor's section.
Reserving a Vendor booth is optional for Artists who wish to sell their art during the day (August 27, 2016) of the Hilltop Street Fair.

 

All fees must be paid via PayPal, Money Order or Cashiers Check.
Scholarships are available for Juried Latin Art Show and Film Exhibition entry fees. Contact: info@latinartsfestival.com.
Booth space reservations are optional. All juried artists and film-makers are welcome to reserve a booth space to show case and sell their art works during the Hilltop Street Fair, Saturday August 27, 2016 from 10:00am to 6:00pm. All booth fees are due by August 5, 2016. Please note the booth space fee does not include a table, tent or electricity.


An application may be withdrawn and a refund of the application fee issued if the application is withdrawn within 14 days of submission, or before the close of applications, whichever is first.
Note that Artist fees are for exhibition operations, advertising and discounted Festival booth fees reserved for Juried artists and Film production artists only. Expenses related to tent or display rentals or other costs associated with your Festival booth participation are not included.


Cancellation
An accepted artist may cancel their participation at any time. Cancellations must be received in writing (electronic is acceptable).
Cancellations received on or before August 1, 2016 will receive a full refund of the booth fee.
In all cases of cancellation, your booth reservation is considered forfeited. The Latin Arts Festival reserves the right to fill your vacated booth space with another artist from the waitlist.


Application Categories

Drawings- refers to works created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax, crayon etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush
Paintings- works created in oils, acrylics, water color, etc.
Photography - photographic prints made from the artists original image, which have been processed by that artist or under their direct supervision
Print Making - printed works for which the artists hand manipulated the plates, stones, or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition
Watercolor - works created in watercolor

Film footage-produced by using mobile phones, cam-recorders and DSLR Cameras. 


Reproduction Policy
Only original works of art  and film are accepted into the Latin Arts Festival Juried Art Show and Film Contest.  General merchandise, unless it forms an integral part of the artist work, will not be accepted. All works must be produced by the artist; machine-made or mass-produced work will not be reviewed for acceptance into the juried art show. However, non-handmade art works may be presented and sold in a reserved (for Juried artists only) booth during the Hilltop Street Fair event on Saturday August 27, 2016 from from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.


Juried Art Show Application Images
Your application will be supported by 4 images of your work. Each image should represent the work you intend to show at the exhibition, and should only display work relevant to the theme of the 2016 Juried Latin Art Show: "Nuestras Historias" - "Our Stories"
No less than 500x500px (height & width), with longest side no longer than 1024 px
Minimum of 72dpi
Uploaded in jpeg format
Max 4mb in size
Named with the following convention
YOUR NAME_IMAGE NUMBER OR TITLE_2016


Do not neglect your images! The jurors reviewing your artwork are looking for originality, quality and consistency in your ideas, execution, and design. They make much of their decision based on what they see in your support material. If your images are too dark, out of focus, or poorly lit, the jurors will not be able to adequately assess your work and may reject your application as a result.
If you do not have experience making digital images, we recommend hiring a professional photographer to document your work. If this is not an option, here are a few tips for shooting good images.
1. Photograph your work in a room with soft, even light, not direct hard lighting
2. Take test shots and review them on your computer prior to upload. The jurors will be viewing your images on a monitor or from a projector in a dark room.
3. Upload with the image in the proper direction (horizontal/vertical)
4. If your work is framed or has a glossy finish, do not use direct flash on your camera. Put the work flat against a wall at a 45-degree angle to a window with indirect light. Shoot with a      polarizer filter.
5. Choose the correct white balance.
6. Shoot high-resolution photos.


Jury & Selection Process

The Latin Arts Festival Art Show is a juried exhibition. A panel of jurors from the Tacoma Art Museum and two additional art organizations (to be announced) will review all submissions. The juror panel will select the strongest work based on originality, quality of support materials, consistency of ideas and design.
Only artists who have been reviewed by a jury are accepted into the exhibition and may reserve a discounted Hilltop Street Fair booth.


All artists will receive a notification of status electronically on August 5, 2016

 

Film Contest Applicants

1. Entry applications must be received by August 1, 2016

2. Applicants can either submit as an individual or team production. No more than two individual and two team productions can be submitted by either applicant type.

3. Upload your film footage with U-tube.

4. Film footage can be no longer than a 4 minute showing.
