The 2018 Latin Arts Juried Art Show is sponsored by Centro Latino and the City of Tacoma Arts Commission. The theme of the 2018 Latin Arts Juried Art Show is: “Connectivity in Motion: Ancient but not Forgotten.” This theme is an acknowledgment of the historic to present-day survival hardships associated with migration and the unremitting resilience to keep one’s family and community united. 

Entry Instructions:

Please read our guidelines in detail before applying. The application must be completed in full, including payment of application fee, to be considered.

Please note: Once your application is submitted it will be processed within two to three days and you will receive notification of your application status so that you can make plans for delivering your artworks to Centro Latino (1208 South 10th Street Tacoma, Washington 98405) by August 6, 2018.

Juried Art Show Entry Fee and Instructions

Full Time Artists
Application Fee – $25 (non-refundable, due upon submission of application)

If an entered Artist is interested in selling their Artworks during the August 25, 2018 Hilltop Street Fair the Art Row Vendor Space (10’ x 10’) is $50.00.  Art Row Vendor Booth entries and fees are due August 1, 2018.

Student Artists

The application fee for a Student Artist is $15.00.
Reserving an Art Row Vendor booth is optional for Student Artists who wish to sell their art images during the Hilltop Street Fair on Saturday August 25, 2018.

The  Art Row Vendor Booth (10’ x 10’) fee for a Student Artist is $50.00 and is due August 1, 2018. Please note the booth space fee does not include a table, tent or electricity.

Fees can be paid via PayPal, Money Order, Check or Cashier’s Check.

Juried Art Application Categories

Drawings– refers to works created using dry media including chalk, charcoal, pastels, pencil, wax, crayon etc. or from the fluid medium of inks and washes applied by pen or brush
Paintings– works created in oils, acrylics, water color, etc.
Print Making – printed works for which the artists hand manipulated the plates, stones, paper or screens and which have been properly signed and numbered as a limited edition
Watercolor – works created in watercolor

Reproduction Policy

Only original works of Art are accepted for the 2018 Latin Arts Festival Juried Art Show. General merchandise, unless it forms an integral part of the artist work, will not be accepted. All works must be hand-made by the artist; machine-made or mass-produced work will not be reviewed for acceptance into the exhibitions. However, non-handmade art works may be presented and sold in a reserved (for Juried Artists only) booth during the Hilltop Street Fair event on Saturday August 25, 2018 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Juried Art Application Images
Your application will be supported by up to 4 images of your work. Each image should represent the work you intend to show at the exhibition, and relate your images in a written statement to the 2018 Juried Art Show theme: “Connectivity in Motion: Ancient but not Forgotten”. 

Image submissions should be no less than 500x500px (height & width), with longest side no longer than 1024 px
Minimum of 72dpi
Uploaded in jpeg format
Max 4mb in size

Do not neglect your images! The jurors reviewing your artwork are looking for originality, quality and consistency in your ideas, execution, and design. They make much of their decision based on what they see in your support materials.

Jury & Selection Process

The Latin Arts Festival Juried Art Show will be Judged by a panel of distinguished jurors from the Tacoma Art Museum, Tacoma Arts Commission and Washington State Arts Commission. The juror panel will select the strongest work based on originality, quality of support materials, consistency of ideas and design.

All artists will receive a notification of status electronically two to three days after application submission. The final date for application submission is: August 1, 2018.

Juried Art Show Awards

Due to support received from the Tacoma Arts Commission $1,000 will be awarded to the top four juried place holders.
